So, you would like to become a BodyPump instructor ?
Awesome choice :)
It is a fantastic way to help people make a real difference in their lives.
To help get you started and to see what is involved, I have started to write a little ‘totally unofficial’ beginner guide to becoming an instructor.
Check it out over here : Patrick’s BodyPump Instructor Beginner’s Guide
It’s a constantly growing document. I will add more as I have the time. When I started this morning, was was a bit surprised that a couple of hours later I was staring at a 6 page, 2000+ word document :)
Let me know what you think of it. Leave a comment or send me an email.

Patrick - Thanks for the information on becoming an instructor. I’ve got my module 1 coming up in less than 2 weeks and I’m already practising and scripting in every available moment of free time I’ve got. I’m so excited about doing the course, having been participant for like 6 years myself. I was told I wouldn’t be allowed to use a mic on my training course though? I’ve practised already on a few “live” people and they lived through the experience and it went really really well, so I’m not too nervous about presenting that first day (ok with a video camera in my face I might be!) Was a great insight into what I’ve got coming though….
Hi Wendy.
Thanks for the comment and BEST OF LUCK!
If you’ve been doing this for 6 years already, you’ll fly through this. You already know all the songs and every move :)
Only one thing left do : Be yourself and Have Fun! Woohoo!
Oh, and one more thing, especially if they’re not going to give you a mic on the module training… Be Loud when you’re practising at home. Lock yourself in the garage if you need to, but do all your rehearsing at full vocal volume. It really helps!
Let me know how you go!
If you have any questions or want more info, shoot me an email patrick@ [this site].com.au. More than happy to help and share.

Hi Patrick,i have been attending bodypump for 2 years now and i really like it.Obviously i want to became a bodypump instructor yeah..:) but i hear i need some level 2 certificate in fitness before i can enroll to actual course or modules?
Hi Juli
That will depend entirely on the country you’re in. You’ll need to contact Les Mills and/or gym in your country.
Here in Australia, you need a Certificate 3 in Fitness to be able to work in a gym and instruct classes. I am not aware of needing a certification to attend the module training though. Again, that could be country dependent though.
Best of luck!
